General information, not financial advice
Start with the programme, not a country-wide promise
Master's eligibility depends on the university and course. This guide uses Expatrio and Yocket general guides and one University of Manitoba example. All four sources were checked 25 Oct 2026. These facts help you read programme pages. They do not assess your admission chances or promise an offer or visa.
Check the degree requirement, grade comparison, teaching language and document list for each programme separately. Where a source gives a range or says that a requirement varies, keep that qualification. Do not turn a usual benchmark into a strict cut-off. The Canada section is narrower still: it describes Manitoba, and other Canadian universities set different rules.
Germany: Expatrio general guide
A recognised bachelor's degree, usually in a related field. Check recognition on DAAD or Anabin.
The usual benchmark is about 50 percent in the bachelor's. Competitive programmes may ask for more.
APS certificate is mandatory for Indian applicants. Start 4 to 6 months before application deadlines.
English-taught programmes: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 88 is the usual minimum. German-taught programmes: DSH-2 or TestDaF level 4 in all sections.
Usual documents: certified transcripts and degree certificates, statement of purpose, 2 to 3 recommendation letters, CV and passport copy. Apply through uni-assist or the university portal. GRE is not mentioned as a general requirement in this guide.
Check degree recognition, grades and teaching language separately. Recognition does not promise admission. Expatrio's grade benchmark is not a guaranteed cut-off. Check the APS lead time alongside your programme's deadline and use the language requirement for your course.
UK: Yocket general guide
Bachelor's degree in a related field. The guide links a UK 2:1 to about 75 percent and a 2:2 to about 60 percent, but conversion differs by university. Check each university for acceptance of a 3-year degree.
English: IELTS bands 6 to 7, TOEFL 90 to 100, or PTE 60 and up, depending on the programme.
Documents: application form, statement of purpose, English test score, transcripts, recommendation letters and CV. GRE or GMAT only for some programmes. Two to three years of work experience may help for some courses.
The percentages in this guide are comparisons, not a single conversion rule for all UK universities. Do not treat a UK degree classification as an exact match for every Indian marking system. The university's own conversion and acceptance rules matter. Likewise, a language score inside the range given here may not meet the rule for a particular programme. Check the course page before deciding which test to take or assuming that work experience replaces an academic requirement.
Canada: University of Manitoba example only
University of Manitoba example only: a four-year honours bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognised institution.
GPA of at least 3.0 (B) or equivalent in the last 60 credit hours. For applicants from outside Canada and the US, this means the last two years of full-time study.
Proof of English proficiency where a test score is required. Some departments ask for GRE or GMAT. Other Canadian universities set different rules.
This is one university's example, not a national master's entry rule. The study period used to assess the GPA matters alongside the grade itself. For an Indian applicant, read the qualification and last-two-years wording together. Proof of English is needed where a test score is required, while department rules may add GRE or GMAT. Do not transfer Manitoba's threshold to another Canadian university without checking that university's own requirements.
USA: Yocket general guide
A four-year bachelor's degree is preferred. Some universities accept three-year degrees, depending on the programme. A credential evaluation, for example WES, is often needed.
The guide says GPA around 3.0 to 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, with top universities asking more.
The guide says GRE scores around 300 to 325 are common for many MS programmes. These are not strict cut-offs, and some programmes are test-optional.
English: TOEFL iBT about 80 to 100 and IELTS about 6.5 to 7.5, varying by university. Some accept Duolingo. Some waive the test if your degree was taught in English.
Documents: transcripts, test scores, statement of purpose, 2 to 3 recommendation letters and resume.
For the F-1 visa: valid passport, admission letter, Form I-20, SEVIS fee, DS-160, visa fee, proof of funds and visa interview. This checklist does not promise a visa.
Keep the guide's ranges separate from the requirements of a specific programme. A preferred degree length is not the same as a universal rule, and a credential evaluation is not a promise of acceptance. The GRE range is expressly not a strict cut-off. Test-optional programmes, English test waivers and acceptance of Duolingo must be checked at the programme level. The F-1 document list is a visa checklist, not evidence that a visa will be granted.
Read eligibility beside costs
The Eligibility at a glance section puts these country checks beside the university and course lists. Read the living-cost and tuition examples guide as a separate check. Eligibility does not tell you the full cost of the course, and a cost estimate does not decide whether you meet entry requirements. Keep both checks tied to your own programme rather than treating a country summary as a complete application plan.
General guide only. Every university and course sets its own rules. Check the programme page.
Country guides: Germany, UK, Canada and USA. Check costs in the calculator, and read the application checklist and the QS 2027 universities guide.
Frequently asked questions
